I think the general advice here is "don't castle _too_ early. Try to make
your opponent develop to generally good squares without knowing _exactly_
where your king is going to try to live. Otherwise he can complete his
development knowing where your king lives and which squares offer the best
attacking chances.
I'm reminded of the GM quote "castle if you want to, or if you must, but _not_
just because you can."
