Dear Sven,

look at the diploma thesis by Dieter Steinwender. It was done in the mid 80s but
deals with the fundamental questions of an evaluation function.

It was written in Hamburg and I got a copy by inter library loan several years
ago. I don't know if there is any copy on the net available.
