In Chess Academy opening tree I have 61% for d5 against 29% for 0-0. The score assigned to the moves by the book composer also gives a "+25" to the first and a "-10" to 0-0. Ath the same time it scores dxc5 at "+25" (with a %5 of frequency). Finally a previous step c5 is condamned as well wihth a negative score. The 0-0 is also causing a swith from a Queen indian to an English like position. But the real reason for Karpov to play such a move is probably a different one.
