Sometimes computer offered moves can't even go in mind. Additionaly there are positions good for computers and not good for humans (and vice verca). But if time is limited you should choice. Mostly it depends of a person. If one is able to generate a lot of own moves that should be checked by computer - he can use fast analysis. >what is the time control that your friend is playing? >If you talk about correspondence games so I suspect that the main reason that he >is winning is using more computer time than the opponents. It's games by phone. One/two days for a move. I don't remember exactly. He is using Celeron-850MHz computer. I don't think it is much stronger as compared to his opponents. So programs using skill is definitely his advantage. I should add that he tries to go to positions that programs hardly understand. This works perfectly against people that just rely on long computer analysis. Victor
