I talked with one of my opponents and he told me that he cannot use a lot of computer time for our game because of 2 reasons: 1)he is playing 48 games at the same time. 2)he is not the only user of the computer. Usually correspondence players play in a lot of games at the same time and they cannot give the computer many hours to analyze. If your friend does not do it then probably that he has a time advantage. I am winning the israeli championship in correspondence chess mainly because of this advantage. I am the only unrated player in the competition because other players played a lot of games so they got ICCF rating. Uri Uri
