I don't know a whole lot about C# from personal use, only what I've heard from others. However, I don't believe that the language is suited well for a chess program (at least not a final version). A chess program's strength ultimately lies in it's raw speed, and the exception is when the program sacrifices speed for knowledge. Sacrificing speed for "stability" isn't going to make your chess program play a better game of chess. Your program might not crash as often (if that ever happens to begin with), but other than that, I don't see any great advantage to using C# for chess programs. I'm sure there are many decent applications where languages like C# and Java are of great use, but I don't think chess programming is one of those applications. I might use it to test out some new ideas where speed wasn't a major factor, but not for my final program.
