This is the policy of many entertainment software companies. The two main
problems are:

1) Windows 2000/NT are not designed for entertainment software. When Chessmaster
8000 was released, the most recent version of DirectX was v7.0a. This version
would not even install on Windows 2000/NT (resulting in many customer
e-mails/complaints from people who did not read the system requirements).

2) Cost (of course). Fully testing a program as vast and complex as Chessmaster
on Windows 95/98/ME/2000/NT was just not feasible. The next version of
Chessmaster is probably only going to support 98/ME/XP. Note that I left out
Windows 95 (for those of you still running that version). The reason for that is
that Microsoft is no longer supporting Win95 (so why should we?). However, the
program will PROBABLY work fine on Win95. No guarantees though....
