It was quite a middlegame fight -- Anand gave an exchange for two pawns to get his pieces active on the queenside. Touzane summoned his rooks to the open to corner Anand's dangerous pawn on the seventh rank. He then wreaked havoc on both flanks and broadened his play kingside, afterwhich, his return of exchange earned him a winning endgame (Queen and plenty of pawn-buddies.) Judging from the quickness of many of Anand's moves, I believe he underestimated Touzane's abilities -- an interesting game nonetheless. -elc. --- [Event "2001/2002 World Chess Cha"] [Site "Moscow"] [Date "2001.11.27"] [Round "01"] [White "Anand, Viswanathan"] [Black "Touzane, Olivier"] [Result "0-1"] [WhiteElo "2797"] [BlackElo "2382"] [WhiteCountry "IND"] [BlackCountry "FRA"] [Remark "0"] [Host "FIDE-OFFICE1/0"] [BoardID "1915"] [PresId "0001010101"] [ECO "C42"] 1. e4 (01:30:58) e5 (01:30:53) 2.
