Part of the commercial programs do not have this option and almost all the free programs can use only one processor. Uri but why are you saying this here Uri? everyone here knows this. we also know that it has come to be expected that if you name your program "deep", then it means smp. the deep fritz program i paid for is not using my second processor like it should be. deep junior does, deep shredder does, crafty does, very disappointed in deep fritz kns. but i also know that this program has beat the best. i try to set my system up for max kns. here is the ad below from chessbase refering to 1.8xmhz that should be about 2750 kns, with my system. i know this will vary. (and this 2750 is too high anyway, should be about 1.6 to 1.65). i am getting almost equal to a single cpu. about 1400 to 1500 kns. with deep junior, about 2250 kns. some positions about 2000 kns. (here is the chessbase ad) DEEP FRITZ Multiprocessor Version Deep Fritz is the multiprocessor version of Fritz and supports one to eight processors. On a dual processor machine, it will run about 80% faster than on a single. Deep Fritz is based on an improved Fritz6 engine. It has better positional understanding than Fritz6 and more endgame knowledge. Furthermore the program defends better against human anticomputer-strategies, i.e. kings attacks in closed positions. The opening book has been extended and revised. System requirements: Pentium, 16 MB RAM, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000, HiColor DM 199,90 | Euro 102,21 kburcham
