I can hear some people saying that this will prevent some programs from participating, but I think the advantages out weigh the disadvantages. And anyway, there is enough time to implement ICC support (via winboard/xboard or something else) if someone really wants to play. BTW, Full credit to Volker for driving the organisation of this event. It looks like it is going to be one of the best computer chess tournaments EVER. cheers, Peter
