I keep hearing about things like this but no one ever says what the
specific problem is. We know that certain chipsets won't cache memory

There should be a small slowdown in performance on WIN NT 4 as compared
to WIN 95.

this was answered by Paul Massie.

Powerbook will not increase anything except maybe some opening lines
will be deeper. Powerbooks is simply an openings treebook.

Copying the endgame databases to the hard drive will increase
performance in that area. Copying any opening book to the hard drive
will help finding the opening move faster.

Make sure that you have the Fritz unleashed box checked in the
Game/Rated game menu.
