for pawn moves, only a destination square may be given.  For piece moves,
the piece "letter" plus the destination square is the simplest form.  If
this leads to an ambiguous move (either of the above) then the move is
qualified by adding either the originating file letter, or if that is
still ambiguous, by trying the originating rank number instead.

e4 is fine

for a capture, dxe4 is required as a4 can't be a capture.  _all_ captures
have an "x" in them
