It is not uncommon to find an "oscillating choice" , where a weaker move is picked at the greater depth. Indeed sometimes a move found at ply 9 and refuted by plys 10 to 13 may be reselected by ply 14. Only game continuation for another 10 moves or more may be needed at times to resolve the best choice.
