The problem is that you still need your ponder moves :) There is no reason why the PV should be incorrect. In fact, it never is. It's just not as you'd expect it to look. The PV is the line of moves the program evaluated to arrive at the move it chose. And that's exactly what you're seeing. >I do not own a commercial chess program.
