He wrote the WChess program for PCs. He plays it occaisionally on ICC as WChessX. The engine was also mass marketed as Power Chess (?) several years ago. I would term its style as "active". More enterprising than Genius (ie. Mephisto) on the same hardware, less tactical than Fritz (ie. Kasparov line, some Mephisto). It definitately plays a better looking game than your run-of-the-mill amateur engine or cheaper dedicated handheld. I used to autoplay my Sapphire II on FICS. I could fire it up again if you'd like to try some games against it. Ian
