By circles, I assume you mean cycles.

You can get an approximation by having your compiler emit assembly for the
function you are interested in.  Then count the cycles for each operation.

You will notice that some operations will have a cycle range rather than a cycle
count.  Also, it is going to be hard for you to accurately predict pipeline
stalls and missed branch predictions.

Hence, what people usually do is just run the sucker through a profiler and see
where the time is going.
