MMX stands for MultiMedia eXtensions.

They are additional instructions introduced for the first time in
the second series of Pentium 1's (codename P55C).

All new CPU's support them. They were ment to speed up multimedia
programs by allowing some operations to be done on 64 bits at a time
instead of 32 bits.

It seems that Frans Morsch found a way to make use of them to speed
up Fritz.
