Hey, I cannot believe we finally agree on something, but agree I
do and wholeheartedly.

The world championship needs to be an event. In the human chess
world, each grandmaster has a rating, but the title is a different
matter and we respect the title more than the rating. Us humans
seem to have a strong need for tradition and ceremony. An event
to mark the world championship gives it more meaning to us.

Also all the computer chess events I've attended are some of the
high points of my life, I never fail to enjoy them tremendously.
They are an excuse to travel, often to a wonderful foreign
country and mix with all the other programmers. I think most of
the other authors feel the same although there may be a couple
who's enthusism has waned over the years. But Bob, who may be
the "old man" among us on this group seems to be just as
enthusiastic as ever.
