I'm thinking of buying something like the Novag Sapphire II chess computer (because our home PC has become so unstable & I'm tired of being tied down to it anyway). But I haven't had a little chess computer for 15-20 years, and the last one I had was *very* slow (it took an hour per move at the highest setting). Are these newer gadgets reasonably fast? As a novice, I'm not too worried about how strong they are. But I'd like to be able to sit down and play a game at a normal pace. While I'm at it, is there any particular model you'd recommend? I'm attracted to the portability of the Sapphire II (so much so that I'm willing to type the moves in for the sake of that convenience). But if there's something better around. . . .
