Subject: PGN question for Steven J. Edwards

In PGN export format, should there be a space between the
move number period and White's move, or not?

That is, which is correct for export below: (a), (b), or either?
(a)
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 a6 4. Ba4 Nf6 5. O-O Be7 6. Re1 b5
(b)
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bb5 a6 4.Ba4 Nf6 5.O-O Be7 6.Re1 b5

I've always thought (a) was correct [since I got it from the
sample game in the PGN spec], and that it was the only acceptable
output form (based on section 3.2.1 of the PGN Spec). On reading
the spec, however, I can't find the relevant text requiring the space.

A Macchess user questioned this, saying that two of the email
groups he belongs to require form (b) and don't permit form (a).

If the PGN spec requires (a), I'll try to convince the email
groups to allow (a) and discourage (b), but I want to make sure
I'm doing the right thing, here.

I'm posting this here rather that using personal email, because
I figure getting this right is important to all of us.
If I have it right, we should be outputting version (a)
[ at least if we're going to call it PGN ], and accepting (a)
and ideally (b) as well on input.
