If you use book options by hitting the F4 key you can change the variety of play and Fritz will assign a much lower percentage of "fringe" book moves as you lower the variety of play. In fact in the book options dialog box you can click on either OPTIMISE or NORMAL. Clicking on NORMAL increases the percent chance that Fritz will play an "offbeat" book move. If you click on OPTIMISE the percent chance that Fritz will play many minor off-shoots to the main book lines simply drops to zero. Therefore, what were the settings that the book options (by using the F4 key) that were used? Normal or optimise?
