Actually my obsession to create a chess program came from the fact that I have
been constantly be beaten by Boris, Chess Challenger 10 and Sargon II on TRS-80
in 1980.

If I had been a strong player, maybe I would have regarded these "toys"
differently (maybe with contempt), and would have been less interested.

Maybe...
