the following two positions make an interesting test:

ivanchuk played 27. ...f4-f3!?
i'm pretty much convinced that this is a great move - if what
happens in the game is the best white has. my fritz 5.32 running
in chessbase doesnt like it. it gets a rook off and exposes the
white king to the well-known attacking duo knight+queen.

[D] 5r1k/1pq2rp1/1p1p2np/2pPp3/P1P2p2/1Q1PP2P/1P1B1RP1/5RK1 b - - 0 27

and in this position, otello wrote that fritz thinks white is slightly
better after Kh2-g1 instead of Rxf5, as played by anand. i'm convinced
that this position is great for black anyway - queen+knight vs queen+bishop
against the exposed white king is an advantage anyway, and in addition, the
black pawn majority h+g vs h-pawn is mobile, whereas white's majority is
not.

what do the silicon oracles say?

cheers
