I was reading the thread about book generation in chess and checkers, and I was curious how most opening books are created. Does a computer generate an opening book, or do we hand assemble an opening book made from the knowledge of the masters? Or is it a combination of both where there is a computer aspect involved in sorting through master's games and creating an opening book from the most common lines played in master games?
