I would not make a GUI that is not WB compatible... it would be crazy,
it is de facto standard. So, it would be interesting a GUI
that is both, winboard and whatever other protocol you might want to include,
for instance, UCI.
However, I am not sure if it is possible because the spirit of the two protocols
might be different.

One thing is for sure: WB protocol is being revised and updated constantly,
UCI, I won't bet. With the flexibility of WB II protocol new changes and
backward compatibility is guaranteed, which make it great.

Maybe it would be a good idea to make a GUI that does only one task to focus on
that and make it better that winboard on that particular task (WB does
everything, analysis, ICS, engine-engine etc.). It might grow later.
