just one tip for your planned improvements list:

put EGTB-support at the end - it's not that extremely important... After Killer
heuristics, implement an opening book that will help you much on ICC and
discovers other weaknesses because your engine will get in very different game
types and must show it's capability's there... then I would recommand permanent
brain - it is better to implement it at a quite early stage because it is not
that easy as it looks like... especially when your internal structure was not
planned around it... (ponderings causes me MANY headaches... :)
