OK, if you have the time to do it please save the games (you know how easy it is
with Chess Tiger for Palm), and I will publish the match if it has more than 20
games.
I'm trying to evaluate the strength of Chess Tiger for Palm as seriously as
possible, and matches like this one are very useful. It's even better if they
are not run by me, because people want an independent source of information.
As a side note I notice that you don't overclock your Palm. By doing so, you are
using approximately 50% of the potential of the device. Overclocking is easy and
harmless, I could even give you some advices about how to do it.
I feel that talking about the real strength of Tiger for Palm on a
non-overclocked device is not really fair, because ALL Palm models (and
Handspring models and all the other ones) can be SAFELY overclocked.
On a PC, doubling the speed of the processor sounds terribly stupid and/or
dangerous. On a Palm it works all the time, and there is absolutely NO DANGER
for the device: a DragonBall CANNOT overheat. And as far as I know it is
possible to at least double the processor's speed on ALL Palms. And on most
devices, you can get speedups in the range of 250% (2.5 times faster than the
factory settings).
The reason why Palms are set at the factory with such low speeds is that most
applications do not require processing power, and users want long battery life.
It is true that overclocking will reduce your battery life by approximately 20%.
But people interested in knowing how much elo they get with a chess program for
their Palm are obviously not going to use the default speed.
