Hi Pavel,

well, were to start ? As each dicision: It depends... :)

If your focus is on analysis, big databases etc. and you want to do it under the
same GUI, the answer is clear, get the Chessbase version... But in eng-eng
matches you won't get full strength - there is no optimized book for the Tigers
shipped with the ChessBase version. Especially for Gambit Tiger you would like
to have one of Jeroen's books, they are really buildt to show Gambits special
strength. I believe that those Tigers play quite well with all books, but
Jeroen's books are definitely something special...

If your focus is on eng-eng matches, I would recommand maybe the ChessAssistant,
because you can also implement UCI & MCS-engines. Especially when you don't have
a good database so far, this one is first choice, because you get a strong
engine AND one of the best if not THE best database. Also you can connect ICC...
Forget the Fritz-Server, so far it is more a joke then a serious option...

if you DON'T need the database and want to have the nice books for Tiger, then
you should choose the Rebel Tiger. You can't implement UCI & MCS engines, but
the winboard adapter is one of the best around, the implementation is not that
easy but it works perfect if you have done it right. Together with ChessAcademy,
ChessAssistant and ChessMaster 8000 this is definitely the best implementation
of winboard in a professional GUI... (AFTER you have installed the newest
adapters... Lex did a great job, the older ones weren't that good, but now he is
near perfection, I hope that the installation will be easier in the near
future... the only point I can still critisize...)
Also you can connect to ICC and FICS...

When you own the Rebel Tiger GUI, you can still play ChessBase engines against
the Tiger, just use the auto232-protocol, put a nullmodem-cable on your two
serial ports and let them play against each other... But be careful with CPU
time, take a look on it... the ChessBase GUI seems to have kind a swindle mode
here... :)

So well, I can't make your decision, but maybe you have some more points to
think about now...

Greets, Thomas
