I don't really feel that strength is the only frontier left in computer chess. Certainly its the most explored, but there are other problems to work on. I for one would immediately purchase an engine that could handicap itself down to my (meager) level without playing like a crippled computer engine. By this I mean the engine would not simply lower its ply depth, but would make the same mistakes a human would make: playing with a flawed plan which results in major or minor positional mistakes, along with the usual tactical blunders. Achieving human-like play at a user defineable strength is a problem that is mostly untackled as of yet, and means infinitely more to me as an improving chess player than adding 20 Elo points to my analysis engine. -Kevin
