You add a lot. In fact, I really like your engine, and I think it is a good sparring partner for someone who isn't a great player. People are always asking for a program that won't slaughter them. Golem is reliable, and not invincible like some of the others. Of course, it will improve over time. But even the first version is of great value. I suspect that you will improve rapidly. To write an engine that is solid (doesn't crash, doesn't reject legal moves, doesn't hang, doesn't stay in memory after quit command...) is actually pretty unusual, especially when the engines first come out. That speaks to your ability.
