If it were that way, it may be a bias for Prog1... because Prog2 must play with
white, what Prog1 has chosen to play in the previous game. OTOH, Prog1 must play
with black what Prog2 had chosen... I don't know if this would compensate.
But anyway, I think this method is meant for matches when both engines use the
*same book*: From the (german) help of Fritz 7 I learn, that the openings are
repeated if both engines use the same opening book ("Falls beide Engines mit dem
selben Eröffnungsbuch antreten, wird jede Variante in der nächsten Partie mit
vertauschten Farben wiederholt. um faire Chancenverteilung zu schaffen").
I don't know that from practise because I do not let play engine matches often,
and if I did I think it I used the same book.
I didn't find something which refers to that special point in the Hiarcs 7.32
help though. Did you notice that openings were repeated with different books
used, or with the same book each (only)?
