Jim, I fear I don't understand the position ...
I tried 2 things. First I let the K go to g6 without any resistance (2...Kf8
instead of Kf7). I tried the following line:
[Event "?"]
[Site "?"]
[Date "2001.12.24"]
[Round "?"]
[White "?"]
[Black "?"]
[Result "*"]
[SetUp "1"]
[FEN "8/4bkp1/5p1p/r1pR1P1K/1pP4P/1P2B3/5P2/8 w - -"]
1. Rd7 {1:39m} Ke8 {17s} 2. Rd3 {33s} Kf8 {47s} 3. Kg6 {5s}
Ra3 {38s} 4. Rd5 {24s} Rxb3 {11s} 5. Bxc5 {3s} Bxc5 {6s}
6. Rxc5 {1s} Rh3 *
I cannot see how to win here. Where is my error?
Then I also tried under very uncontrolled conditions to follow the suggested
moves by Yace. Please ignore the thinking times, they are not correct. Also I
have done some takebacks at several places:
1. Rd7 {0s} Ke8 {6s} 2. Rc7 {63s} Kd8 {36s} 3. Rb7 {138s} Ra3 {13s} 4. Kg6
{83s} Ke8 {67s} 5. Rb5 {66s} Rxb3 {6s} 6. Kxg7 {7s} Rc3 {50s} 7. Bxc5 {21s}
Bxc5 {25s} 8. Rxc5 {5s} Rh3 {52s} 9. Rb5 {14s} Rxh4 {39s} 10. Rxb4 {4s} Ke7
{56s} 11. Rb7+ {20s} Kd6 {29s} 12. Rb6+ {21s} Ke5 {49s} 13. Re6+ {19s} Kxf5
{4s} 14. Rxf6+ {8s} Kg5 {40s} 15. Rg6+ {47s} Kf5 {10s} 16. c5 {38s} h5 {13s}
17. Rf6+ {38s} Ke4 {7s} 18. Kh6 {44s} Rh1 {9s} 19. Kg5 {23s} Ke5 {52s} 20. f4+
{15s} Ke4 {9s} 21. Re6+ {14s} Kd5 {20s} 22. Rh6 {7s} Ke4 {19s} 23. Rxh5 {2s}
Rg1+ {62s} 24. Kf6 {4s} Rc1 {27s} 25. Re5+ {13s} Kf3 {25s} 26. Ke6 {9s} *
Other interesting lines I tried ended in 2 new Queens (KQRPKQR) with a pawn on
f6 or f7. It was not clear to me, but at least not easy to defend, and fast play
yielded in a win for white.
