Subject: Fritz 7 Bug?

Has anyone encountered an error message while attempting to use the crosstable
feature while running an engine tournament or after the engine tournament is
complete?
This has happened to me many times: The following window appears:

                       Program exception (time)
              Type: Unspecified overflow
              Address: 0049F466
                              Yes No

after you click onto yes to close, or onto an X to close the window, the Fritz7
program closes down.Once I reboot the program, Fritz 7 features work normally
again.
Chessbase suggested to get the online upgrade, which of course I had already
downloaded before contacting them. They also suggested to use the Query upgrade
feature to correct the problem, but I had done that as well beforc contacting
them.
This was approx. three weeks ago. After a few emails back and forth they no
longer had any answers to give.
It shouldn't be a memory problem as I have 384 sdram. I am running Windows 98 on
a 350MHz Pentium II. Some tell me that windows 98 will not recognize or use more
than 128 sdram, but Fritz sure does. (Plus the manual with my computer clearly
states that 384 sdram is the maximum that can be added, and this was with Win 98
as the original installation.)
This is proven while setting the hash tables, which would always cause the hard
drive to work constantly when raising the hash table figure to 32 MB, when my
original ram was only 64 sdram. When I had the memory upped to 320 sdram,
raising the hash tables into the mid 200's would cause activity in the HD. I
added an additional 64 ram, raising my total ram to 384 sdram. Now Fritz 7
allows me to comfortably bring the hash tables upto 288 MB with very little HD
activity, but when setting it it only shows 287 MB. Supposedly only even numbers
should be used according to chessbase however.
So I doubt that memory may be a problem.
Any answers to the crosstable problem would be greatly appreciated.
