Yes, I had to do the same when I wrote .pgn-support for PocketGrandmaster
(http://www.pocketgrandmaster.com). Even Fritz exports lines like

[Event "timecontrol ... 10""]

which is (afaik) not .pgn (quotes have to be preceded by a backslash in
strings).
