:-). I hadn't read your heated discussions on this topic in the CSS forum when I
wrote this ..

Yes, I am sure Bringer has always been weakened under ChessBase GUIs. In the
past the author made several changes to lessen the weakening.

So for the combination Bringer 1.8 /Fritz 5.32/6/earlier WinBoard adapters I
think the weakening isn't very big.

I have also tested Bringer 1.9 betas with Fritz 7 and have seen _many_ strange
things. I didn't want to continue testing though and Gerrit didn't seem very
eager to do any more Fritz fixes either. Recent changes made by ChessBase are
not very encouraging for authors IMHO.

Why not? If users are interested in using their Fritz GUI with every
chessprogram they will find out that Bringer works, too ( as long as we forget
about things like pondering et al).

For most users the strength of the engine ( or some weakening) doesn't matter
very much.

The weakening has been mentioned briefly in one of the docs on Gerrit's site. It
should be put more clearly for Bringer 1.9 maybe.

>(P.S.: I didn't make use of that though, but used it's own GUI for my tests.)

I know. Btw for testpositions I think the problems are not very big anyway.

Kind regards,
pete
