Robert Hyatt is frequently providing new versions
of his program Crafty. We cannot test all of them,
but recently we got an opportunity to play with the
ChessBase version of Crafty 18.12, with the opening
book general.ctg for Fritz 5.32.

After 260 tournament games Crafty 18.12 K6-2
450 MHz has a rating of 2501. That is 9 points more
than the version 17.07 has. On Athlon 1200 MHz
Crafty 18.12 has 2601, 100 points more than on
the slower hardware.

For seven lists in a row, Frans Morsch has had the
first place of the SSDF rating list. But not this
time. Christophe Théron were on the top of the
list two years ago, and now he has made a come back
with Chess Tiger 14.0 CB Athlon 1200 MHz! It's rating
is 2715, four points above Deep Fritz. The fight will
go on, between these and between upcoming program
versions!

Some programs have changed significantly between the
latest two rating lists. Shredder 5.32 A1200 has lost
35 points, Gambit Tiger 2.0 A1200 now has 24 points
less and Junior 7.0 K6-2 has won 19 points.

The average rating increase between Athlon 1200 and
K6-2 450 is now 72 points, compared to 84 last time.
Junior 7.0 earns only 38 points, whereas Gandalf 4.32h
increases it's rating with 125 points.

Next list will appear when we have some new
information to provide. At the moment we don't
have any new programs to play with, but I hope they
will come.
