Writing a chess program is not incredibly hard, but it does require some technical skill. It is likely that you'll have more success and attain more satisfaction if you try something less complex. If you really want to write a computer game program, try backgammon. It is possible to write a backgammon program that can beat a casual backgammon player often, without much difficulty. bruce
