Hello Chris, I can only suspect that either your com 1 port is in use by something else or is inoperative. On my latest computer I can turn off some ports with the Bios setup so that is a possibility. On some computers there are even jumper wires on the motherboard to enable/disable the com ports. So first make sure nothing else is using the com 1 port. Or maybe move your cables to com 2 and try using the com 2 ports. Jim
