Well you test it against whaty you have because you want to see if it is really better than the old version. Believe it or not some programs have come out claiming to be 70 points better than the previous version and after testing it was discovered it was not any better than the previous version. So far Fritz 7 is at the top of my Database "ELO" list. It is ahead of Chess Tiger and Gambit Tiger by about 14/15 points. So far I only have about 114 games vs Chess Tiger,Gambit Tiger,Deep Shredder, Junior 7 and Century 4 at time controls of longer than 1 hour/game. Jim
