I may have misunderstood you... but if you are talking about the boxes which get filled in (coloured blue) for the evaluation profile in the Shredder GUI (not the Chessbase GUI), then I think these show the scale of the graph. e.g. if 1 box is filled then the graph ranges between -1 and 1; 3 boxes means between -3 and 3; etc. When the game is level, often only one box is filled. But when one side has a significant advantage (e.g. eval of 5 or so), many boxes are filled because the graph has to cover a wider range of values. You could view it as a "zoom factor". Gordon
