Thank you for your insights. Greatly appreciated. I am only using a Pentium II 350 MHz processor, so the actual rating Fritz 7 achieves is not as important as the DIFFERENCE in the ratings between my Fritz 7, Fritz 6 and Deep Fritz engines on the Chessbase internet server. I have 3 different sign ons on the Chessbase Playchess server. In the very beginning, when Chessbase offered the Demo version of the Playchess internet server, which came without a Fritz 7 engine, I was only able to use the engines I already had. I used mostly Deep Fritz, which I have found to be stronger than Fritz 6 on a single processor. All 3 sign ons achieved a 1900-2000 rating. Sometimes going over 2000 and dropping below again. The ratings are relative, in that most of the High ratings then, were only 2200-2300. As soon as I ran the Fritz 7 engine in there place, the ratings jumped to at least 100 points. Of course the many of the opponents ratings have risen to 2400 and over, so now the sign ons can now gain even more points. Of course Fritz 7 is not 100- 200 points higher than Deep Fritz. Based on the results on the Chessbase Playchess internet server, I would estimate the difference to be roughly between 50-100 points. Any other opinions on the difference in playing strengths between Fritz 7 vs. Fritz 6, Deep Fritz and others would greatly appreciated.
