Hello Uri,
Your point is well taken but do any programs recalculate the value of pieces at
the leafs?  It seems to me that doing this before each move may be better than
not doing it at all.  It does not necessarily mean the eval was good or bad but
it was doing something that others were not.  I believe it also shows it was not
as simple/crude as some people here like to say.
