The time the RAM takes to give up its data (latency) matters more for chess programs than how fast the data streams across the bus. I run my 100/133MHz system at 100MHz to use older RAM and it make no discernable difference to the speed of may chess program. (I have tested it at 133MHz with the newer DIMMs in the mix.). I would not be surprised if RDRAM is slower (becuase of its longer latency) for chess than SDRAM I am neither an Intel nor AMD discpal. At the moment AMD plus 266MHz SDRAM seems best for performance and cost. Frank
