Yes it's strange !
I tried the static evaluator in the following upcoming quiet position:
[D] r1bqkb1r/pp1ppp1p/2n2p2/8/8/5N2/PB3PPP/RN1QKB1R w KQkq - 0 8
Alarm evaluates it as +2.21 for white... but when it searches a few plys ahead,
it thinks black is better !?

Hmmm... The fact that it considers Kd7 in the PV is VERY strange also!
