Subject: Fritz7 difference with Fritz7 no-MMX

Author: Ron Langeveld

I could not find any info with the CCC search engine, so I better put my
question in a new thread:

The no-MMX engine of Fritz7 is not optimized for MMX processors according to the
specs. Does this mean that it should be the default engine for Athlon
Thunderbird 1300MHz CPU's ?

The reason why I ask this is that the standard (MMX) engine crashes with a
"access violation" error on a W2K machine (fresh installed with SP2) within 30
minutes of analysing a position.

Also, does anybody know if there are differences between these two versions
besides the optimization ?

Best wishes for 2002!
Ron
