Unfortunately, you may not be able to make a backup copy of the CD. CD #1 has a
copy-protection scheme burnt onto it; CD #2 does not. So, if you are concerned
about too much disc-switching, here's what I suggest:

-- If you did not perform the full installation, then COPY the file that is on
CD #2 called TUTORIAL.DAT to your Chessmaster 8000 folder. This will make it so
you never need CD #2 again, and you will only need one of the CDs to start up
the program.
However, this is a very large file (over 300MB), so make sure you have the free
disc space first. Chessmaster 8000 needs about 100MB of FREE space to play some
of the tutorial audio, so don't use up too much of your free space.

-- You can also start the Chessmaster program with EITHER CD in the drive. This
means that, if you have done the full installation on both machines that you
intend to run the program on, you can have CD #1 for use in one machine and CD
#2 for the other.

Hopefully, this will help.
