To make it clear, I am an ex-moderator, but I put "moderation" in the title because that's what we are talking about. Whether or not this guy *should* be gotten rid of is an interesting and very serious question. If he had said rude things to all of us *here*, of the same magnitude as sending someone a virus in the mail, he'd probably be gone. If he had never posted here, and instead all of this had sprung from discussions elsewhere, like for instance r.g.c.c., there is no argument to ban him here. That he has seemingly taken "outside" revenge based upon arguments taking place here is an interesting middle ground, and any action taken in this case should come after a *lot* of consideration by the moderators. That he sent me or Christophe or Bob rude email has no bearing on CCC, I think. He probably thought to contact me because I answered one of his posts here, but beyond that it was just an email interaction that went a little sour, and the case is not at all related to anything that happened on the board. The same is probably true of Bob and Christophe. These cases are like cases where one member sues another over something that happened outside. The board shouldn't take sides in these cases. That someone won the court case doesn't mean that the other guy loses his account. I'm more concerned about this case where someone gets into an argument here, and as a direct consequence intentionally sends someone a virus. That is probably a real crime of some sort, or at least it is *very* nasty and malicious, and furthermore it's obviously very closely *related* to posts made here. I don't want to have to deal with people who do that. If someone gets a reputation for sending viruses or threats or harassing email if you argue with them, I think that's grounds for getting rid of the account. bruce
