It can work without CP or RT but it need a properly configured and installed winboard adapter. The ERT zip file does contain the winboard adapter but it does not install it. To install the winboard adapter open a command promt, move to directory where you copied the ert files and enter: REGSVR32 ENGINEEXT.DLL Then you need to have a ENGINEEXT.INI file where you can configure your winboard engines. Sample ini file can be found here: http://www.lokasoft.nl/uk/winboard_engines.htm This should go in the windows directory.
