It did not see it in the first 22 ply, and took a very long time
for ply 23 (didn't have patience to let it finish)

mate in 8 = 16 ply

16 + 7 (zugzwang detection) = 23

So I guess it would have found the mate at ply 23.

With better pruning rules I get :
