Sorry to disappoint you.. :)  I am using Ebbi's WinBoard <--> Auto232 adapter.
HIARCS 8 Alpha is running on a second computer within the ChessBase GUI playing
via Auto232.

I have brought the idea up to Mark though...  The main problem is the opening
book.  ChessBase GUI handles all of this -- a winboard version would require
routines for this, and I don't know if the ChessBase .ctg files are easy to work
with or not.
